Procedure of admissions in NIOS (open exam)

From the year 2010-11, NIOS has introduced 100% On-line admission in order to facilitate learners in registering themselves with it. Off-line admission quota has been dispensed with. Under this scheme learners have the options to :-

  1. Register themselves One-line directly.
  2. May visit their nearest AI (study centre)/Facilitation Centre and take their help for On-line registration.
  3. May visit their Regional Centre for on line-registration.

In order to facilitate admission,
provision of on-line admission throughout the year 24×7 has been made. 

Incomplete application forms will be rejected.

Secondary Course
Senior Secondary Course
Minimum Educational Qualification
Certificate of Class VIII passed, or Self Certificate (as mentioned at the back of Admission Form)
Copy of the Certificate of the Secondary Examination passed from a recognized Board of Secondary Education duly attested by a Gazetted Officer





Please note that :- 

(i) Admission forms received without supporting documents will be rejected and fee will not be refunded.
(ii) If the secondary level examination is not passed from a recognized board, admission at secondary level will not be considered. List of recognized Boards
(iii) If you possess a High School/Secondary Certificate from any foreign Board/University and want to take admission to Senior Secondary course of NIOS, you will be required to attach a certificate from the concerned embassy to the effect that the examination passed by you is equivalent to the Indian High School/Secondary Examination.

  1. I want to improve my marks in 2 . i am doin engineering and my % is 59.2 % , making me inelligible for some companies placement.
    I did my 2 in 2011.Can i give this test ???

    i failed the 2013 cbse board exam in pcm.
    i wanted to know the schools which provide this facility to apply as a private candidate.
    the previous school which i was studying in, the authorities there are telling me to repeat the class xii as a regular candidate.
    i dont want to waste time going there attending school daily.
    i was ill during the exams and so couldnt give in my full efforts then.
    and also do inform me about the procedure for applying as a private candidate.
    and the schools(which i already mentioned above).

  3. Sir i want details about TOC. Actually i have passed cbse +2 in all subjects n i scored 70% bt i want to improve my % by giving nios board exam… So m i eligible for toc in 2 subjects n if yes , whats the procedure for applying, plz reply me as soon as possible..

  4. Sir i have question in my mind..actually this is just an advice from your side…
    My age is 26 year and i had done my 12th in 2011 from up board with 42% marks…so i was trying for government job but could not success…. And now i became overaged for government job..
    Sir now i want to give again my 10th from NIOS and want to make some changes in date of birth…sir my question is that will it create any problem that im doing again 10th with differnt age…as after selection documents verification is done so if i do 10th from NIOS…it will be safe or not???

    One of my friend have been registered for diploma in elementary education and her admission is confirmed but she needs to apply improvement exam. Because her percentage of class xii is less than 50%. But she don’t know how to apply and what will be the course fee
